Community-based program evaluation. As research and project coordinator, I have worked in partnership with regional government and various non-profit organizations to conduct an outcome evaluation of a supported housing project. I have also helped build partnerships and shape the research design for an randomized controlled trial of an innovative and complex community-based intervention for persons experiencing homelessness, as well as worked in partnership with multiple stakeholders to conduct a needs assessment to inform a strategic action plan for addressing the overdose crisis in New Westminster.
Knowledge exchange/mobilization. Through working on various collaborative projects, I have contributed to a number of knowledge mobilization strategies including developing accessible research reports, facilitating community conversations, presenting at conferences, and helping to facilitate a webinar designed to support the implementation of rent assistance programs in communities across Canada.
Capacity building. With values based in empowerment and capacity building, I have had the opportunity to support, train, and supervise persons with lived and living experience of homelessness, mental health, and substance use to conduct quantitative and qualitative interviews as part of an evaluation of a supported housing program. I have also hired, trained, and supervised a team of interviewers within Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside to support data collection and the evaluation of an economic inclusion project, as well as worked closely with an amazing Peer Coordinator to develop an empowerment-based network of people with lived and living experience of substance use, increasing their involvement in making decisions on programs and policy as it relates to overdose prevention.
